By Heartland News

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - In nine months, the Carbondale Police force hopes to be settling into its new home in a brand new building.

The Carbondale Public Safety Center will be built on a plot of land on Washington Atreet, the former location of Lincoln Middle School.

City council members unanimously approved a construction contract with a group out of Edwardsville at Tuesday night's city council meeting.

The 32,00 square foot facility will cost almost $8 million.
