Funeral arrangements set for Leadwood soldier killed in Afghanistan

ST. LOUIS, MO (KFVS) - The body of 29-year-old Lance Cpl. Michael C. Bailey will arrive in St. Louis Tuesday afternoon.

Bailey's body was expected to arrive around 2 p.m. at the Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.

Bailey was killed by small arms fire while on a security patrol conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, Wednesday, according to the United States Marine Corps.

Visitation will be held on Thursday between 3-9 p.m. at West County High School in Leadwood, Missouri.  The funeral will be held at the school at 11 a.m. The service will be performed by Rev. Jessie Barton with the Franklin Nazarene Church.

Michael proudly served his country in the United States Navy for eight years before joining the United Marine Corps.

Before entering the Navy, Michael was active with the Leadwood Fire Protection District.
