United Way, local businesses with school supplies campaign

By Heartland News

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Southeast Missouri United Way is sponsoring the Stuff the Bus campaign to bring school supplies to local children.

"The supplies will go to help anonymous and low-income families," said Erin Schwent.

"It's important," said Schwent, "because our summer schedules are busy. We need all of the help that we can get before school starts."'

Supplies needed include all of the tools that students need:

  • backpacks
  • markers
  • pencils
  • pens
  • crayons
  • notebook paper

Drop off locations include the following businesses':

  • Schnuck's Market in Cape Girardeau
  • K-Mart in Cape Girardeau
  • Country Mart in Jackson.

The organization's goal is to raise 1,200 backpacks for children in Cape Girardeau, Jackson, and Scott City.
