Du QUOIN, IL (KFVS) -This season's Click It or Ticket effort is set to start in southern Illinois.
Friday, Illinois State Police announced the annual kickoff of the safety belt enforcement program. Troopers and hundreds of local police will participate from now through Memorial Day weekend.
Troopers will put a special emphasis on nighttime safety belt enforcement this year because of the number of fatalities on Illinois roads during late hours.
Authorities say last year in the state just two in ten people who died in vehicle crashes between 12 a.m. and 3 a.m. was wearing a seat belt.
