SIU Board of Trustees to freeze tuition, but increase fees

By Heartland News

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - The Southern Illinois University Board of Trustees decided to freeze tuition for the 2010-2011 school year.

Students that start at SIU in the Fall will lock in that rate for four years.

But, the board also voted to raise fees for all students by 1.8 percent.

Leaders at SIU say the increase will average out to about $56 a semester.

Incoming freshmen can expect to pay about $10,500 to go to SIU next year, according to President Glenn Poshard.
