Gravel spill on Interstate 55 backs up traffic

By Heartland News

BENTON, MO (KFVS) - Traffic was backed up for miles on the southbound side of Interstate 55 Thursday morning near Benton after a truck dumped its full load of gravel on the interstate.

This, in turn, basically turned the interstate in Scott County into a gravel road and a dusty mess.

When a driver in a car behind the truck braked, it caused another truck to slam into the back of him.

He has minor injuries but is ok.

The driver of the truck that dumped its load of gravel was ticketed for operating a vehicle with a mechanical failure.
