Afternoon update: Investigation continues into grain elevator explosion

Good afternoon!  I hope you get the chance to go outside and enjoy the nice weather today.  It might be a good idea to soak up that sun because Bob Reeves says we're expecting rain Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Crews were able to flush out the remaining grain from an elevator in Chester today that exploded yesterday and injured four people.  Holly Brantley talks with the fire captain about how the grain mixture caught fire and the precautions crews are taking as they worry about the structural integrity of the building.

Two teens charged with attempted murder after a Sesser woman was viciously attacked in her home Monday appeared in court this morning.  Carly O'Keefe was in the courtroom and talked with the victim's son.

Fire crews found much more than flames when they arrived at a Jonesboro home around 7:30 yesterday morning. Now, drug charges have been filed against one of the home's residents.

The Mt. Vernon city council approved cuts in the fire and police departments.  Carly O'Keefe tells us what they decided.

The Williamson County Sheriff's Office wants help finding two wanted men.

A man driving by the Missouri Dry Dock in Cape Girardeau had a tense few moments after the truck he was driving hit a guide wire and snapped three power line wires onto his truck.  Ameren crews had to turn power off to make sure he could get out safely.

You may not think of summer school as a necessity for some families, but one local principal says it is.  However, Missouri's budget problems may close the doors of summer schools all over the Heartland.  That could impact students, teachers, and parents.  Laura Wibbenmeyer headed to the Perryville Elementary School where the principal says half her students attend summer school.

Simply scan this thermometer across your child's forehead for no-fuss fever monitoring, but is it accurate?  Lauren Keith tests the Temporal Artery Thermometer in this Does it Work test.
