YourTurn - 4/26/10

Watch for YourTurn normally scheduled to air at the end of Heartland News at Noon on Mondays and Fridays, at the end of Heartland News at 10:00 on Saturday nights, and following The Breakfast Show on Sunday mornings.

Don Laughlin from Mississippi County, Missouri:
"(Regarding Mike Smythe's ViewPoint on the children's dentistry study) none of the eight items of the Pew Center Report contained any mention of PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY for dental care for their children. Two specifically mentioned MEDICAID, another entitlement program….whatever happened to parental responsibility????
Laura Climer from Marble Hill, Missouri:
"I have to congratulate Mike Smythe on his (ViewPoint) about paying children to do what they are supposed to do without being paid. That is the problem with our youth today. In place of correcting them, parents try to pay them to get results…our offspring (are) totally out of control! Thanks for a great opinion!"
Jason Copeland from Cape Girardeau:
"I first agreed with Mike Smythe's opposition regarding giving kids money for good behavior (but) we tell our children that their only job now is to do well in school. Money motivates adults to do better. We are teaching our children to be adults, right? Where is there a difference? Teach the kids to be motivated by adult objectives and get adult results in the long run."

Greg Thompson from Murphysboro, Illinois:
"(Regarding Mike Smythe's ViewPoint on e-cigarettes) what about the people who have to live with a smoker? The e-cigarette doesn't produce smoke so children, spouses, friends, and co-workers are all safer for not breathing the toxins from regular cigarettes…come on Illinois, wake up and smell the fresh air."
