(KFVS) - More than 80 percent of the funds reserved for the Energize Missouri Appliance Rebate are still available to consumers.
The energize Missouri Appliance Rebate Program began Monday, giving Missouri residents more opportunities to save when they exchange certain existing household appliances for energy efficient ones.
If Missourians buy those appliances before the end of the day on April 25, they can also take advantage of a state sales tax holiday for energy efficient appliances and save 4.22 percent off the purchase on top of any rebates.
Rebates from $75 to $500 with a maximum amount of $575 to Missouri residents who purchase ENERGY STAR appliances are available from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
Consumers may also qualify for additional savings or rebates through their local utility company in addition to the rebates and sales tax holiday. Find more information on the utility providers at the department's list of providers at http://dnr.mo.gov/pubs/pub2396.pdf.
In an effort to address a greater than anticipated demand, the Missouri DNR reallocated a number of rebates into the categories for dishwashers and clothes washers after reviewing the rebate numbers during the first day.
The total number of rebates increased by approximately 10 percent after the department completed this reallocation, although the total amount of funds for the overall program remains the same.
Consumers can reserve rebates online at www.missouriApplianceRebate.com or call toll-free to 877-541-4848 before making their purchase.
Energize Missouri Appliance Rebate Program has $5.6 million in funding. It's part of a larger $300 million federal program aimed at energy conservation, energy efficiency and economic recovery funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
