(KFVS) - Friday is the last day for residents to mail back their 2010 Census forms.
Households returning their forms after Friday, April 16 could be visited by census workers who will be going door to door beginning May 1.
Mailing back forms will reduce the cost of administering the Census because less workers would be sent door to door to nonresponsive households.
It costs 42 cents for people to mail back their form, compared with an average of $57 for census takers to visit each home and collect census data, according to the Chicago Regional Census Center.
About 67 percent of households have mailed back their census forms nationwide. See the 2010 Census website for an interactive map of the mail participation rate in your area.
