CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Southeast Missouri State University Foundation received a bequest - or gift - of more than $4 million from a woman's estate.
The university says the money is from late Christene Merick of Catron was recently given to the foundation as an unrestricted gift.
Merick was a teacher for several years.
Her late husband, William, was a school administrator in several southeast Missouri communities.
Merick had given undesignated gifts to the SEMO foundation since 1978.
The Mericks were also strong supporters of the university's athletic and agriculture programs.
