LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Louisville Metro Police say a 14-year-old boy was behind the wheel of a stolen bread truck during a chase on April 5.

Earlier in the day, a Kosterman Bakery truck was reported stolen. A bakery worker happened to spot the truck later in the evening. When police caught up with it at Briarcliff and the Outer Loop, officers say the driver would not stop. That led to a chase lasting 30 minutes before the truck finally flipped over in the 1500 block of Oleanda Avenue in a busy neighborhood, near a park.

"I was like two feet away from him and I didn't know what to do," said Chris Lee, a witness. "I just stood there. I was frozen. It was scary."

"We had a lot of kids out here man and it could have been ugly, real ugly," said James Judd, another witness.

The teenager and 21-year-old James Snider, who was found in the back of the truck, are both charged with theft, fleeing and evading and receiving stolen property. More charges could be filed.
