Construction crews still have work to do, but state transportation officials say the new 100 (m) million dollar Bill Emerson Memorial B ridge at Cape G irardeau should open by late this year.
Any spring flooding, however, could delay the project.
The four-lane bridge is named for Bill Emerson, a U.S. Representative for Missouri's Eighth Congressional District, who died in June 1996.
After it opens, MODOT will demolish the current two-lane bridge that was built in 1927.
