(KFVS) -There are a few other Does it Work reporters in our Raycom family of News Networks, so when I saw one of my colleagues test a product you have requested, I enlisted her help. Here's what we found on the Garden Groom.

The makers of the hedge trimmer called the "Garden Groom" claim it's a cut above the rest. It works without oil or gas and allows you to clip without having to clean up.  The blade puts trimmings to a bin.  We asked some professional landscapers to give it a whirl on hedges, rosebushes, and decorative trees.

We found the Garden Groom has it's up and downs. The big downer is you need an extension cord, which our tester said got in the way.

"The maneuverability-- I'm hindered by the cord."

Still, this product pretty much worked as advertised, catching almost all of the clippings.  If you are doing a lot of trimming, it comes with an attachment that will hold even more clippings.

"It picks up exceptionally. If you are going to pick up boxwood or tight growing evergreens, it's the machine for that."

Our tester goes on to say the Garden Groom is very light-weight and worked nearly as well as professional products on all types of shrubbery we tested.  It's worth noting for major trimming jobs or shrubbery with a lot of "shoots", this might not make the cut.

"According to the directions, it's only going to take off about six inches of growth at a time. If it is longer than six inches, its going to clog up and drop to the ground."

So, he wouldn't use it for his line of work, but says it would be good for the average homeowner.

The $150 Garden Groom trims a good grade B+ on this Does it Work test. You can buy it off the infomercial, online at www.buygardengroom.com and at select Home Depot stores.
