USEC Strike - Day 58
By Tony Hensley
(Paducah, KY)--More than six hundred Heartland workers remain on the picket lines, after efforts to get them back to work fall apart.... again!!!
Union workers at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion plant went on strike Febuary fourth for better wages and benefits.
Some of the members say they are very discouraged by the lack of progress.
Striking worker Jeannine Langston is more than just discouraged.... she's down-right worried!!
Langston says she hasn't received a full pay check in ten weeks. And if a settlement can not be reached soon...she doesn't know what she will do.
"I've spent my savings account. My credit cards. I'm not making full payments on things that I'm used to paying. I'm starting to sell things, I've sold my truck and now I'm selling my four-wheeler. I've canceled my AOL account. Just every little penny I can save. There are thing's I'll just live without," says Langston.
Langston and others are into their eighth full week on the picket lines.
Union leader Charlie Jett says they will continue to strike until an agreement can be reached, and with no new talks scheduled they could out be for a very long time.
