PARMA MO (KFVS) - The community of Parma prays for five teenagers, recovering after an overnight wreck in Pemiscot County. It happened about 12:45 a.m. Saturday.

Four were in serious condition, at least two we're told by family members, are clinging to life. Those two teens are 18 year old Damron Holmes, and 15 year old Rodricus Johnson. Martina Austin and 17 year old Orlando Perkins are in serious condition. The highway patrol says somehow the driver, 18 year old Matthew Rice, lost control of the car on Interstate 55 and ended up rolling several times.

Rice walked away from the crash with only a few cuts and scrapes.

"I knew I didn't have a seatbelt on," said Rice. "I knew I could be thrown from the car at any minute. I was holding onto the wheel and the mud was hitting my face," said Rice as he recalled the crash.

Rice says he's blessed to be sitting here with only a few minor injuries and bruises.

Rice walked away from the crash, while his friends weren't as lucky. Austin and Holmes ended up trapped inside the car. Johnson and Perkins were thrown from the trailblazer. Rice said they all grew up together.

"I had to get them help," said Rice. "It hurts my heart to see someone I love laying there. It breaks my heart. We flipped so far off the road no one could see us."

Authorities say alcohol was not involved. They say it was just a horrible accident that left Rice's 2002 Trailblazer in some of the worst shape they've ever seen after a crash.

Austin was the only one wearing a seatbelt.

"To be wearing no seatbelt, I'm very blessed to be sitting here," said Rice. "It's a small town here in Parma. Everyone is worried."

"Everybody needs to pray," said family friend, Barbara Gaines.

Rice said he's thankful to first responders for their quick work after the crash.
