(Carbondale, IL)--The Coalition for Peace in Southern Illinois continues to try to drum up support for peace.

A tent is set up in Carbondale outside the Interfaith Center where a candlelight vigil is held.

The group is hoping to have the vigil 24 hours a day seven days a week, until their message for peace has been received.

However peace activists say they're more often than not misunderstood by the general public.

"We support the troops but we don't have to see them put in harms way for no reasonable justification," Rob Benford Professor of Sociology said.

The peace coalition plans on hosting teach-ins at SIU to educate students on the intricacies of war, and have daily protests outside the Federal Building in Carbondale
