SIU Students Sound Off On Saddam

By: Wes Wallace

(Carbondale)--Following Dan Rather's interview with Saddam Hussein, many Americans began talking and thinking even more about the possible war with Iraq.

Several SIU students told Heartland News they thought invading Iraq would be a mistake, mainly for foreign policy reasons and fear of losing allies who oppose the looming war. Other students disagree, and say the US should put its foot down, and not allow Saddam to continue his delaying of disarmament.

Regardless of their viewpoint of war, all the students interviewed agreed that Dan Rather's interview with Saddam probably didn't change anyone's opinion of the Iraqi leader or the US's stance to take military action.
