CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - It's a solution to a problem we all have from time to tiime: backed up drains. Turbo Snake promises to unclog them instantly.

Bill Bonney of Dutch Enterprises in Cape Girardeau has certainly seen his fair share of plumbing problems over the years.

"People call us when they have a slow drain, backed up pipes, and water in the basement, to name a few," says Bill.

But Bill and his crew don't normally use something like the Turbo Snake.

"You never know!" he says.

The Turbo Snake basically looks like a piece of coated wire with velcro taped onto the end of it. Give it a simple twist, and we're supposed to pull up all kinds of gunk, which frees up the drain. Bill has a slow drain for us to use. We're expecting big things from this little device, after all the directions say to stand back.

"I'm gonna forego the goggles!" he laughs.

Bill pushes the Turbo Snake deep into the pipes, or so we think, and...

"Oh yeah! That's a lot of hair!"

Wow! Could it really be that simple? He works with the Turbo Snake, and even more gunk just keeps coming out.

"Look at that!" we say.

Just remember, it's OK to use a little force so you can get that snake all the way past the trap in the pipe. look here..even more gunk. It pays off because when we start the sink again, there's no slow drain at all. The pipes are clear and Bill's impressed.

"To be honest with you, it looks fairly simple--the idea is simple, but when you pull up this kind of debris, that's a good deal," says Bill.

It only costs about ten bucks, which is good because it's not the most "high end" of products.

"Just from durability, you can't give it a straight A, but for what it's designed to do, go with an A minus or B plus," recommends Bill.

It even comes with a handy hook for the next time the drain gets clogged---but I'm thinking Bill's wife won't go for this. The Turbo Snake really doesn't match the decorating theme.

But it's no joke, the $10 Turbo Snake easily glides by with a B+ on this Does it Work test.

I got the Turbo Snake at Wal-Mart.
