Waiting Game Continues In Tamaroa

Waiting Game Continues In Tamaroa
By: Wes Wallace

After four days away from their homes, many folks still evacuated from Tamaroa can't wait to get back to normal. On Tuesday, people living outside the one mile area of the train derailment got to go home...but plenty of others are still waiting for the all clear.

When will that happen? Tamaroa Village President William Place says he hopes, "Very, very soon." Place himself lives inside the affected area...and knows the frustrations many others experience.

Emergency management officials and workers started one of the last major projects on Wednesday. They hope to remove the contaminated soil near the tracks, replace that with 'clean' dirt, and then relay a section of the tracks to get three tanker cars moved away from town. Once that's done, officials say they'll evaluate the situation and could then make a determination when folks can finally go home.
