No Strike at SIU

No Strike at SIU
By: Wes Wallace

When all the ballots were counted, SIU faculty association members voted 202-73 in favor of accepting the administration's last contract offer.

That offer included a 7.5% pay increase over the next four years, with no raise in the first year. The contract also included improvements with job security and student/teacher ratios.

While not all of the faculty association's terms were met, enough members voted to ratify what the university called it's last and best offer.

Both administrators and faculty association members agree the whole process will make SIU stronger, and plan to move forward now that the strike has been avoided.
