ALTENBURG, MO (KFVS) - It's called the "Best Little Fair in the Land" and because of the hospitality, good food, and popular mule jumping, this tiny town of 300 people ushers in 20,000 guests during the fair!

A big draw also is the livestock competitions.  KFVS-12's own Mike Shain serves as Grand Marshal of the parade this year. On Friday, Sept. 25th you can watch the parade at 1:30 p.m. in downtown Altenburg.  You can also check out an antique tractor pull at 5 p.m. Friday. Saturday's events include livestock judging, musical entertainment, the famous mule jumping competition at 5:30 p.m., and a 4x4 truck pull at 8 p.m.

Be sure to taste the new "Gary" burger this year.  Organizers says it's in honor of the late Gary Scholl, who practically ran the East Perry Community Fair.  He passed away in May.  A tribute to him is listed in the fair booklet as well as the burger at the Concordia Trinity Lutheran Church.

On the way to the Altenburg fairgrounds, you'll also see the church steeple waiting to sit atop the Trinity Lutheran Church once again.  The hurricane-force May 8th winds left the steeple hanging by a thread.  Now four months later, the steeple is repaired.  It weighs 20,000 pounds. A crane is scheduled to put it atop the church building on Tuesday, Sept. 29th.
