CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - With the warmer season upon us, it's time to switch out the winter clothes for summer threads, and that often means reorganizing your closets.  Conveniently, two new products hit the market to help you do that:  Shoes Under and Wonder Hanger.  The newest member of the Hearltand News Team, Julia Bruck, helps us out with this test.

Julia just moved into her new apartment.  She's noticed already the closet space is lacking.

"I've had to get creative in my closet. So, there's some organziation, but not a lot," Julia sai.

She's on-air five days a week, and that means this reporter has a lot of clothing,

"I have different jackets for different places!" Julia said.

So, can Wonder hangers triple her closet space? We'll see. First, we have to assemble the hangers, which isn't too easy to do. You can place up to five items of clothing on the Wonder Hanger. It basically stacks the clothes on top of one another when you drop the second hanger down. Finally, will these plastic slots hold?

"I like it for shirts--my curiosity is pants though," she said.

No wonder.  Julia doesn't like to iron, so she hangs her pants fully extended rather than folding them on the hanger.

"I try to keep my pants as nice as possible for as long as possible, but this makes the pants sweep the floor, and it's not going to work for me," she said.

And, it doesn't look like it's going to work for too long, either.  The plastic is already bowing.  The Wonder Hanger with the heavy coats looks like it could snap at any point.  Plus, bulky items like Julia's jackets actually take up more room than her shirts where she can easily slide the hangers back and forth.

"I would definitely say it works for some, but coats and pants no.  I'd like to keep it for my shirts actually," she said.

So, is Wonder Hanger the wonderful-space maximizing tool it says it is?

"In the end, I'd say B-minus," Julia said.

I got the Wonder Hanger at Wal-Mart.

I'd say shop around, too.  There are already many similar products like this, with metal hangers being more durable than this.  Now that the long pants are hiding Julia's shoes, she laughs.

"I definitely need Shoes Under now!" she said.

Shoes Under is basically a garment bag with slots for 12 pairs of shoes, but we found it depends on what shoes you have.  Julia wears a ladies shoe size ten or 8 1/2 in mens.  You can see, some of the slots only hold one shoe rather than a pair.  Flip flops and heels slide in with no prob, as expected, but it's one boot per slot, too.

"I don't know if this is the 'end-all be-all' shoe organizer," she said.

While it slides under her bed easily, we're already noticing some stretched seams on the Shoes Under, but it says it's durable!

"While you need it to bend with shoes, I still think it's kind of flimsy," she said.

This might work best for small size shoes and in kids' closets, but Shoes Under turns up a little under par with a C on this Does it Work test.  I got the Shoes Under at Walgreens.
