Man taken to hospital after standoff with officers

SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) - A man is hospitalized after an overnight standoff with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety.
It happened on Davis Street around 8:30 Wednesday night, according to Sikeston DPS.
The man barricaded himself inside a home.  Family members told police he was considering suicide.
Officers evacuated the area and surrounded the home and could see the man inside with a gun in his hand.

He later came out of the home and when officers thought he was reaching for the gun, they tasered him.  He was then taken to a local hospital.

Seargent Jim McMillen with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety says "The taser was key in resolving this situation, leaving everyone alive and well."
