SCOTT CITY, MO (KFVS) - Leanne Grant's classroom has seen the light!  Her 8th and 9th graders keep the lights off to help keep their minds on.

Leanne says through her research she found that florescent lights can actually have a negative effect in the classroom.  She keeps those lights off and uses a much softer lighting with lamps and natural light from the sun.

She says these small changes have made a huge difference and that her entire class is much calmer and much more focused.

She even has a special light for the most unfocused kids to go to.  In front of this light, the results are even more suprising.

For instance, one 9th grade boy's grades started to rise when he was in front of this pastel light...in fact he scored proficient on the MAP test for the first time ever.

Leanne says she would love to make her own version of the pastel, blinking light and would be open to any suggestions during the process.
