SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) - A Sikeston man is behind bars after breaking into several local businesses.

Steven Lamar Turk, 37, faces Burglary 2nd, Property Damage, and Felony Stealing charges.

According to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, Turk is accused of breaking into the business, My Sister's Closet.

When officers arrived, they say he was crawling on his hands and knees inside the building.

Police say he then kicked a door open and ran into Davis Detail, another business in the same building.

A dog was sent in the building to look for the man.

Officers eventually found Turk hiding on top of a trailer behind Midwest Music.

According to Sikeston DPS, damage to the businesses add up to $1600.  Officers found more than $10,600 worth of musical instruments moved to the rear of the business.

Turk remains in custody at the Scott County Jail Tuesday morning with a $25,000 cash or surety bond.
