FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Some rural burglaries are shaking upu folks in Franklin County.
Kenneth Aiken has lived in rural Franklin County his whole life, and says it's usually pretty quiet around his neck of the woods.
"Pretty peaceful, until this little hiatus, or whatever it was," Aiken said.
Two homes near Aiken's house in rural Benton, and another just outside the town of Akin were burglarized, in broad daylight Tuesday, according to Captain Don Jones of the Franklin County Sheriff's Department.
The county saw two similar cases two weeks ago outside Plumfield on the other side of the county.
Jones says it appears two or three men are targeting rural homes.  He believes they knock on doors to see if anyone's home, if someone answers, Jones assumes they just ask for directions or something and go away.  But if no one comes to the door, Jones believes they break in, and steal money, jewelry or whatever they can get away with quickly.
That's shaking up some rural residents like Kenneth Aiken.
"I don't know what I'd do if they'd stopped here," Aiken said. "I probably would have had a heart attack."
Police do have a few leads, but no arrests have been made.  That's why they're asking folks to be on the lookout for two or three clean-cut, well-dressed men, in their late teens or early 20s.  If they come knocking on your door, call the police.
