Bobby Hatchett and Drew Thomas each scored 29 points as Scott County Central left little doubt in a 98-63 victory over Newton-Harris in the Class 1 boys state championship game on Saturday.
The Braves (29-2) shot 64% and scored 64 points in the first half, a Show-Me Showdown record, with Hatchett and Thomas accounting for 42 of those points.
The 98 total points were just five shy of the state championship game record of 102, set by St. Francis Borgia in 1993.
Despite shooting 52% for the game, the Tigers (29-2) turned the ball over 31 times, leading to 45 Scott County Central points. The 22 steals by the Braves were the fourth most in the tournament's history.
K.J. Cool led the Tigers with 18 points.
Scott County captured the school's first championship since 1993 and 13th boys state championship, extending its state record.
