Itch Mite to Blame for Rash on Malden Students
By: Heartland News
MALDEN, Mo. - The Malden School District know nows what's causing the skin rash on some students.
Health officials say something called the Oak Leaf Mite or itch mite is to blame.
Several students have the rash. Some originally thought it could be scabies. Those tests came back negative.
Health officials say they did not find a mite problem in the school itself, but they did find it at the Malden Community Center.
That's why they belive the outbreak started in the community, not in the school.
