MARION, IL (KFVS) - Police are investigating a violent attack that sent three people to the hospital.

Marion police says 17-year-old Drew J. Hans of Marion was arrested.

Investigators say they were called to the 300 block of North Fair Street around 9:30 p.m. Monday night.

Police say initially two people got into a fight.

"I heard a lot of ambulance come by, the police department," said Victor Villarreal.  "My granddaughter said that three kids got stabbed."

Villarreal lives down the street from where the stabbing happened.

The Williamson County Fair runs from August 7 through August 14.  Williamson County Fairboard secretary and treasurer Steve Eli says the stabbing did not happen on the fairgrounds.  However, Eli says they are increasing security the rest of the week at the fair.

"We are going to change some of our lighting up, brighten up some areas," said Steve Eli.  "We are going to have some more patrols here on the grounds tonight (Tuesday) more people patrolling.  As the week gets busier, one of our biggest nights is Saturday and we will have even more people here."

Witnesses say dozens of teens were in the area.  A police officer said the stabbing appears to have happened in a grassy area just outside the fairgrounds.

When police arrived they found several victims with stab wounds.  Witnesses say one of teens had stabbed in the face.

It is not clear how badly the victims were hurt.

However, at last check an officer said all three victims are believed to be in stable condition.
