HUNTER, MO (KFVS) - The search is on for a man who fired four rounds into a Carter County home then took off running from police.

According to Sheriff Tommy Adams, deputies showed up at the victim's home just in time to see 36-year-old Phillip Wayne Catlett fire two of the rounds from a 22 caliber rifle into the home.

Sheriff Adams says Catlett then took off running.

Deputies called in the Reynolds' County K9 unit but they weren't able to catch Catlett.  The K9 lost the scent shortly down E highway.

Adams says Catlett was spotted around 7:30 a.m. at a gas station in Doniphan. He was apparently in a Z71 Chevrolet pickup truck with Missouri License Plate #4CH256. The truck is registered to someone named Leslie Woodson. According to Adams, a woman and infant were in the truck as well.

Catlett has a prior felony record and is currently on probation and parole. He was previously in prison for disposing and hiding a dead body, according to the Sheriff.

Officials say he is armed and dangerous. Catlett faces charges of Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Use of a Firearm and Assaulting a Police Officer.

Sheriff Adams tells Heartland News the situation started with a dispute last night, when Catlett apparently shot two rounds into a mobile home. Two dogs were hit, but are expected to be fine. No one else was hurt.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Carter county sheriffs department at 573-323-4510.
