JEFFERSON CITY, MO (KFVS) - A former nursing home bookkeeper in Perryville pleaded guilty to forgery and deceit of funds.

Connie Jean Beckerman pleaded guilty to one count each of forgery, stealing by deceit, and abuse of a person of receiving health care, at the Perryville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, according to Attorney General Chris Koster.  Each of the counts are felonies.

Investigators say that between September 2006 and October 15, 2007, Beckerman pocketed more than $14,500 by forging the nursing home administrator's signature on checks written for cash and keeping the money for her personal use.

"Those who would steal from Missouri taxpayers must understand that we will find you and prosecute to the fullest extent," said Koster.
