Temporary Levee Breaks Near Poplar Bluff - Shelter now Open By: Heartland News
BUTLER COUNTY, Mo. - The temporary levee along County Road 606 southeast of Poplar Bluff failed early Saturday morning.
County Commissioner Ed Strenfel tells Heartland News the temporary levee is gone, completely washed away from the power of the rising Black River.
Commissioner Strenfel said people living in Broseley, Qulin and along County Road AA should take immediate precautionary measures to protect themselves from flash flooding.
Sheriff's deputies have been working throughout the morning, knocking on doors warning people in the affected area to prepare for flash flooding.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Butler County.
As of 8 a.m. a shelter has opened the New Covenant Church on Oak Grove Road.
