Investigators say Andrea Pierce came out to stand by one of her girlfriends during a fight with another woman.

Police say Pierce couldn't get out of the way fast enough when the suspect drove at her.  They say she died saving her friend's life.

Her family says that's just the kind of person Pierce was.

"Some of the kids couldn't pronounce Andrea, so Angel, she just became our little angel," Trina Gauldin said.

Her angel fell Sunday afternoon.  You can still see the tire tracks of the car that crushed Pierce to death against an apartment complex.

"My son called me.  He was next door with his friend.  He thought it was a dog outside that got hit, and then some people moved the car off the body he realized it was his cousin under the car.  My son's 14," Gauldin said wiping away tears.

She adds Pierce rushed to defend her teenage friend as she fought with Latandria Kimble.

An eyewitness who called 911, relived the horror he felt when he saw Kimble allegedly plow into Pierce.

"She drove right into them right there, and pinned one between the car and the wall.  By the time we got the car backed up, it mashed the girl in between the wall and the car.  It just killed her probably instantly."

"It was pretty horrifying. There were probably 30 kids out here playing cards basketball, nobody could do anything about it, if you get into it, everybody gets on you," Willie Woodell said.

Back at the Pierce home, Trina Gauldin admits Angel ran with a rough crowd.

She says her cousin was trying to change her life around when it was cut so tragically short.

"When God is telling you to change your life, and you're trying to have the devil working on the other hand calling you, telling you to come to a fight, walk away," Gauldin said.

Latandria Kimble faces murder and attempted murder charges.  Police say they arrested her as she ran from the scene of the crime.

Meanwhile the intended target, the teen, was also hurt but she's recovering at home.

The funeral for Andrea "Angel" Pierce will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Faith Deliverance Apostolic Church in Dyersburg, Tennessee.  It's open to everyone.
