CHARLESTON, MO (KFVS) - Police are looking for two suspects after a robbery at the Citizen's Bank in Charleston and a bomb threat at three of Charleston's schools.

The Charleston Department of Public Safety received a call of a bomb threat at three of Charleston's local schools at 11:30 a.m.

While officers were investigating the bomb threats, they received a report of a bank robbery at Citizens Bank at 207 E. Commercial St in Charleston.

Police are looking for two suspects in a Chevy Impala with a license plate hanging by one bolt, according to Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore.

The local schools were evacuated. The SEMO Bomb Squad assisted in searching the schools for explosives. None were found, and students were allowed to return to class at about 2 p.m.

Police believe in a preliminary investigation that the bomb threat was a diversionary tactic to tie up law enforcement resources during the bank robbery.

During the robbery, two black males entered the bank with handguns and demanded cash. The two suspects left on foot with an undetermined amount of cash. The Federal Bureau of Investigation was requested and is assisting in the investigation.

Charleston DPS, Sikeston DPS, the MO State Highway Patrol, the SEMO Bomb Squad and the FBI investigated.

According to the city manager, police have blocked off several blocks around the bank. Officials said school was not dismissed.

No one at the bank was injured.
