The term "hometown girl" definitely applies to Lauren. She first started her career reporting and anchoring at KHQA, the station she grew up watching, in Quincy, Illinois. Lauren's hometown is the small town of Shelbina, Missouri. However, after two years at KHQA, Lauren's fiancé, Brian, conveniently graduated from veterinary school. So, the two University of Missouri grads packed up and headed for the Heartland. Lauren and Brian got married in May 2004 and are glad to be living in the area where Brian grew up. He's from New Hamburg, Missouri, in case you're wondering.
Lauren's received some awards for community service and a Missouri Associated Press award for an investigative story where she uncovered a Northeast Missouri man's quest for a hero's honor. Lauren's story proved the man scammed several local charities after he pretended to be an injured Marine who served in Iraq. Right now though, her big project is "Does it Work Wednesday," which she really enjoys. Sometimes viewers don't agree with the grade she's given a product, and Lauren says it's always entertaining to hear from them.
When she's not reporting, Lauren likes exercising, cooking, and reading. She also visits many area schools during career fairs. Don't let the makeup fool you; Lauren's gets very dirty from time to time helping Brian deliver calves, puppies, kittens, even baby goats! She usually enjoys tagging along when her husband takes those emergency phone calls. He's a veterinarian at the Delta Vet Clinic in Sikeston.
Lauren enjoys reporting stories that matter to everyone in the Heartland, and she's always open to story ideas from you! E-Mail Lauren.
