JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - The Jacksonville Jaguars have waived defensive end Austen Lane after three seasons and undrafted rookie cornerback Trey Wilson. The team made the moves before its final practice of the offseason. Lane, a fifth-round draft pick from Murray State in 2010, played in 28 games with 16 starts.
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) - Golden Itiz won the $59,552 feature by 1¾ lengths at Betfair Hollywood Park on Thursday to snap a nine-race skid. Ridden by Hall of Famer Mike Smith, Golden Itiz ran 1 1/8 miles on Cushion Track in 1:50.77 and paid $12.60, $6.60 and $3.60. The 6-year-old hadn't won since July 10, 2011 at the same track.
NEW YORK (AP) - Eclipse Award-winning jockey Ramon Dominguez is retiring after fracturing his skull in a January spill at Aqueduct. The 36-year-old rider said Thursday he had hoped to return to the track but doctors advised him to retire. He was injured Jan. 18 when his mount, Convocation, fell and he was thrown to the inner dirt course.
