CARLISLE, Ky. (AP) - Travel over a bridge in Nicholas County will be restricted to one lane as contractors resurface it, beginning next week and likely continuing for several weeks. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the bridge on Kentucky 386 over McBride Creek southwest of Carlisle will have deteriorated concrete removed from the surface and replaced with a new concrete overlay.
FORT KNOX, Ky. (AP) - The soldiers of Fort Knox's 3d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) are preparing to depart for Afghanistan and Kuwait and plan a ceremony on Friday to mark the occasion. The unit will hold a casing ceremony, which prepares the unit flag for movement.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Eugene Robinson will be in Louisville next month to receive the University of Louisville School of Law's Brandeis Medal for social justice advocacy.
Robinson is an author, columnist, political commentator and former assistant managing editor of The Washington Post. The program for the ceremony on April 9 will feature an on-stage discussion between Robinson and journalist Bob Edwards, who is a U of L alumnus.
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Kentucky House has passed a measure aimed at blocking minors from using tanning beds. The measure cleared the House yesterday. It now goes to the state Senate for consideration.
