Ten days away now until Election Day and both sides of the smoking ban proposal are squaring off.

Today people gathered inside the Cape Girardeau Public Library on Saturday to learn more and ask questions about what will be on the April 5th ballot.

The proposed ban would prohibit smoking in indoor workplaces and public places like bars and restaurants.

Supporters of the ban say they will improve public health and reduce people's cancer risk.

People campaigning against the ban say they intrude on individuals' freedom to use a legal product.

More than a dozen local smoking bans have been implemented in Missouri in the past two years. A total of 18 cities have smoking bans that prohibit smoking in all bars and restaurants.
