FARMINGTON, MO (KFVS) - The Farmington No Kill Pet Adoption Center gets a 30 day extension from the health department to stay open.

According to Beth Haafe the adoption center has until January 26 to come up with $25,000 to install a new septic system.

The No Kill Adoption Center has raised half of the money to meet the $25,000 goal and have plans to raise more.

In the meantime, the shelter is changing the way they operate so they don't emit water into a stream the health department is worried about.

Volunteers are taking daily trips to a laundry mat with five trash bags full towels and other items that need to be washed in order to avoid using water at the center.

The No Kill Pet Adoption Center houses 150 animals.
