MUNFORDVILLE, KY (KFVS) - We now know the name of a truck driver involved in that deadly wreck in central Kentucky.

Kentucky authorities say 45-year-old Kenneth Laymon, of Alabama was killed when his tractor-trailer veered across an interstate median and struck a van carrying a Mennonite family near Munfordville.

Federal records indicate the Alabama-based trucking company, Hester Inc., had recorded no deadly wrecks and just one with injuries in the two years before Friday's accident.

It happened on Interstate 65 and involved a tractor-trailer and a church van headed to a wedding in Iowa.

A semi was headed south when the driver crossed over into the northbound lane, and the National Transportation Safety Board is working to find out why.

"We will start with what this driver was doing for the last 72 hours: where this trip started, where this trip was going to end, whether there were any distractions to the driver, either internal or external to the vehicle," said NTSB Vice Chairman Christopher Hart.

The crash at mile marker 63 about 70 miles south of Louisville killed 11 and shut down interstate traffic for hours.
