FRANKFORT, KY. (KFVS/AP) - A three-year-old Cape Girardeau girl was killed in a crash in Franklin County, Kentucky that involved two tractor-trailer trucks early Friday morning.
The girl was riding in one of the tractor trailer trucks driven by her grandmother, 49-year-old Catherine Stults of Cape Girardeau, according to Kentucky State Police.
The Franklin County Coroner's office identifies the girl as Andrea Weatherspoon of Cape Girardeau.
Troopers were investigating an previous injury crash involving a DUI at 11:45 Thursday night at the 53 mile marker on eastbound I-64, according to Kentucky State Police. That's when the truck driven by Stults crashed into another rig driven by 45-year-old Timothy Williams of McLeansboro, Illinois that was stopped on the highway at 12:53 a.m. Friday.
Laura M. Hubbard, 26, of Fort Thomas KY, was arrested and charged with DUI 1st offence and lodged in the Franklin County Jail in the first crash that stopped traffic. A passenger in the first wreck was taken to the hospital with injuries.
The wreck shut down the eastbound lanes between mile markers 48 and 49 of Interstate 64 for several hours near Frankfort.
A fund has been established to help pay for funeral costs. Donations can be made to any Regions Bank in the name of Andrea Weatherspoon.
