Christy is a hometown girl from Advance, Mo. and grew up watching KFVS12.
Christy
was bit by the performance bug early in life after taking dance
lessons. She conducted her first interviews in seventh grade for a
History Day project on German-Lutherans immigrating to the southeast
Missouri towns of Altenburg and Frohna in the 1800s. After a couple of
years on the yearbook team in high school, she decided to try her hand
at journalism in college.
She graduated Summa Cum Laude from
Missouri State University in May 2007. While in college, she worked for
the NPR affiliate in Springfield, interned at KSPR and KY3, and won four
awards from the Missouri Broadcast Educators Association.
It was
during an internship at KFVS that she realized KFVS12 would always be
home and wanted to work for the best station in the Heartland.
Christy was a 2010-2011 recipient of the Midwest Health Journalism Fellowship.
When
she's not at work, Christy enjoys trying out new recipes and
restaurants in the Heartland and spending time with her husband Josh,
her two cats, Lucy and Ethel, and beagle puppy, Cayanne.
She loves talking to viewers, learning new story ideas and ways to make KFVS12's digital products better. Email Christy | Facebook | Twitter | LinkedIn
