FISK, MO (KFVS) - The Twin Rivers School District has two elementary school campuses; one in Fisk and one in Qulin.
The dividing line is along Highways C and AA. Students to the north go to Fisk, students to the south go to Qulin.
But the dividing line doesn't mean enrollment is divided equally. Fisk has 407 students while Qulin has just 270. And now, Fisk is running out of room while Qulin isn't.
"They've got extra space down there," said Twin Rivers Superintendent Mike Stevenson. "It's a shame we can't move that space to Fisk. But it just doesn't work that way."
Fisk Elementary Principal Clinton Salyer says his building is maxed out. The overcrowding has forced him to convert former storage closets into classrooms. School officials expect Fisk's enrollment to keep rising.
"The trend is more and more students will be at Fisk," Stevenson said. "When you look at the Wappapello area, Highway T, and up in that area. The prospect for growth is better up that way than it is on the south end."
