CAIRO, IL (KFVS) - Crews have rescued two fisherman on the Mississippi River.
Just after 3:00p.m. Saturday emergency crews responded north of the 1-57 bridge in Cairo, Illinois to a report of two people on a boat in need of help.
According to officers on the scene, we understand the boaters were fishing out on the Mississippi when they hit some rocks and broke off the lower part of their motor...stranding them.
It took awhile, but rescuers did manage to bring the two to safety.
They were never actually in the water, just some scary moments for them.
Heartland News has learned the river has a pretty strong current today, and even though the weather's nice this weekend boaters are encouraged to stay off the water.
