BENTON, MO (KFVS) - A Charleston man has been arrested following a weekend bar fight that left one victim seriously injured.
According to Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter, Quentin C. Branam, 21, has been charged with first-degree assault. He posted $50,000 bond and is set to appear in court on December 15.
Walter said an investigation revealed Branam and the victim got into an argument outside a bar in the Diehlstadt area around closing time. The argument escalated into a fight, which resulted in the victim being badly beaten, Walter said.
Branam reportedly left the bar after the fight and drove to Charleston, while the victim was taken inside the bar. A deputy patrolling the area began to investigate after noticing numerous vehicles parked outside after closing time.
Walter said the victim was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for a broken nose and released. According to Walter, the victim went to another hospital later in the day, where he was diagnosed with possible serious internal injuries due to the beating. Walter said the victim remains in the hospital awaiting word of possible surgery.
