LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky coach John Calipari thinks his young team is starting to grow up.
The Wildcats are undefeated at 4-0 heading into Tuesday's game against Cleveland State in Cancun. The latest win was a 92-63 whipping of Rider on Saturday at Rupp Arena.
While Calipari said he saw plenty of progress on defense, the biggest development may have been a simple gesture from freshman center DeMarcus Cousins to teammate Daniel Orton. Calipari gave Cousins the option of starting the second half, but Cousins said he felt Orton should start instead because Orton had played better during the first half.
The two freshmen combined for 32 points in the win, and Calipari said Cousins' selfless act was proof that the Wildcats are starting to care about their teammates more than themselves.
If Kentucky wins on Tuesday, it will face either Stanford or Virginia on Wednesday.
