Veterans Day - This morning on The Breakfast Show

Posted: Updated:

Good Morning
Today is Wednesday, November 11

Today is also Veterans Day - day to remember friends and neighbors who have served the country. Across the Heartland today there will be silent moments of reflection, ceremonies to remember and celebrations for past and present veterans.

Heartland News plans to be in at least Sikeston, Marion, Dexter and Benton, IL to cover local events. If you have an even going on today please let us know about it. You can email it to news@kfvs12.com and leave a comment on our Facebook page.

Tuesday morning on The Breakfast Show we told you about the death of a Poplar Bluff toddler following a car crash. Throughout the day there was an outpouring of support in comments left on our web site and Facebook page. Last night at ten Holly Brantley talked with family friends about the child and his family that are now coping with this tragedy. This morning you can go to our home page and watch her story and see the efforts of friends to help the family.

This morning on The Breakfast Show we also have new details about a budget crisis at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Since July first SIU President Glenn Poshard says the state has missed payments to the university totaling $115,000,000.

Speaking of spending money - there are only 44 shopping days till Christmas - and this morning on Does it Work - Toy testers Lauren and a group of students from Central Elementary in Dexter put a bunch of toys to the test.

At 6:15 this morning you'll see if the Shred Sled shreds, if the new Easy Bake Oven is really easy, if the Guess Who game leaves the kids guessing if they want it under the tree, if the Nerf Dart Tag game is a hit ... and last but in no way least ... do the children love the Zhu Zhu Pets?

So take a few minutes and turn on The Breakfast Show this morning for all the local and nation headlines of the day - along with a look ahead to what's happening today in the Heartland - and possible the chance to see Lauren, Brian or Jim try to ride the Shred Sled (6:45 a.m. to be exact).
