BENTON, IL (KFVS) - An army veteran who police say threatened a shooting rampage at the Marion VA hospital has been indicted by a federal grand jury.
29-year-old Mark Harmon was indicted on one count of attempted possession of a firearm on federal property with the intent to commit a crime. That charge replaces a criminal complaint that accused him of having a handgun outside the hospital last month. Police say Harmon called a nurse and said he planned to "fill that place with lead."
Investigators found a loaded handgun, a magazine filled with 13 bullets, and another 13 loose rounds of ammunition inside Harmon's truck when they stopped him outside the hospital. He remains jailed without bond.
