DU QUOIN, IL (KFVS) - Two men were arrested after the discovery of a methamphetamine lab east of Du Quoin, said Perry County Sheriff Keith Kellerman.
Kellerman said an investigation began around 1 a.m. Monday when a deputy found items used to manufacture meth. The deputy reported finding the items near Redwood and Elderberry Roads lying next to a field.
Investigators from the sheriff's office and a meth cleanup crew from Illinois State Police soon arrived, Kellerman said.
During the investigation, a vehicle drove up to the scene. After interviewing both men inside and finding items used to make meth in the vehicle, deputies arrested Chris Knapp, 31, of Marion, and Jonathan Pike, 34, of Thompsonville. Both were charged with various drug offenses.
Kellerman said an investigation is ongoing.
